Hide Actuals After Book Month

Learn how to automatically hide empty columns in metrics and statements for future periods that don't have data yet.

Hide Actuals After Book Month

The "Hide Actuals After Book Month" setting is designed to automatically hide actual financial data for periods beyond the current book month. This helps maintain focus on finalized data and prevents confusion with future projections. When enabled, it ensures that only completed and verified data is visible, which can be particularly useful for maintaining data integrity in reports.

Enabling Hide Actuals After Book Month

Step 1: Access Company Settings

Click the gear icon in the lower left corner to open your company settings.

Step 2: Enable the Setting

Under “General Settings”, check the box for "Hide Actuals After Book Month."

Click "Save" to apply the changes.

Applying to Metrics

Once the company-level setting is enabled, you can apply it to individual metrics:

  1. Open the metric you want to update by clicking the menu button and selecting "Edit"
  2. Navigate to the "Additional Settings" section
  3. Look for the setting labeled "Hide Columns with Only Zeroes"
  4. Enable this setting by checking the box
  5. Notice that all columns containing only zeroes disappear from the preview window
  6. Click "Save and Close"

The metric will automatically resize to fit the available space, providing a cleaner view focused on relevant data.

Applying to Statements

The same functionality is available for statements:

  1. Open the statement you want to edit
  2. Navigate to the "Additional Settings" section
  3. Under the "Table" section, enable "Hide Columns with Only Zeroes"
  4. Click "Save"

The statement will remove blank columns and auto-resize to fit the space.

Dynamic Behavior with Book Month

This feature dynamically responds to changes in your book month setting:

  • If you adjust the book month to a different month, only data through that month will display
  • The visible columns automatically update as you change the book month

This dynamic behavior ensures your reports and dashboards always show the appropriate data range based on your current book month setting.
