Transferring a Company Between Workspaces
A company can only exist in one workspace at a time within Reach. Depending on your company's integration type, you will have different directions to follow.
Transferring a QuickBooks Online Company
For QuickBooks Online companies, the transfer process is straightforward:
- In the new workspace, go to Add Company and click on Connect to QuickBooks.
- If you have the necessary permissions, the company will appear in the list.
- Select the company, and a warning will pop up asking if you want to change the administrative access.
- Click Yes to proceed.
- Complete the remaining steps to finalize the transfer.
Once the process is complete, the company will be removed from the first workspace and moved into the second. Keep in mind that a company can only exist in one workspace at a time within Reach.
Transferring a Xero Company
The process for Xero is a bit different from QuickBooks Online, requiring an extra step before you can transfer a company from one workspace to another.
Step 1: Attempting to Connect to Xero
- If you try to add a company and connect to Xero directly within Reach, it won't show the company as available for transfer like it would if it were a QuickBooks Online company.
- Instead, you'll need to complete a step within Xero itself.
Step 2: Disconnecting from Xero
- Go to Xero.com and log in to the company's Xero instance.
- From within Xero, navigate to the settings and disconnect the Reach Reporting app there.
Step 3: Connecting to Xero in Reach
- After disconnecting from Xero, go back to Reach and attempt to add the company again from the new workspace.
- You should now be able to pull in the company, along with all previously created reports, dashboards, and data.
Handling QuickBooks Desktop (QBD), CSV Companies, or Consolidations in Reach
For clients using QuickBooks Desktop (QBD), CSV uploads, or working with consolidations, the process requires some development time, as these can't be transferred automatically.
- There's no need to take any action, such as deleting or changing their company.
- Contact us at support@reachreporting.com or start a new live chat to get the process started
- Hold off on working in Reach for a couple of days while the issue is resolved
The development team will move the data from workspace to workspace manually and our support team will notify you once the transfer is complete.
Important Warning
Never delete the company. Deleting a company means permanently erasing everything associated with it, including:
- Reports
- Dashboards
- Consolidations
- Any other data tied to that company
Once a company is deleted, all data is gone and cannot be recovered. Do not delete your company unless you are completely finished using Reach and are not worried about deleting all of the accompanying data.
