Learn what all the date ranges inside Reach are and when to use them.

Overview

Reach Reporting offers a wide variety of date ranges to make your reports and dashboards as flexible and automated as possible. Understanding which date range to use and why helps ensure your data always reflects exactly what you intend to show.

Important Note: Date ranges are affected by your company's Book Month setting. "Last Month,” for example, will reflect the month set as the book month, not necessarily the previous calendar month. “Current Month” will reflect the month after the book month, not necessarily the current calendar month.

📅 Updates Annually — Date ranges marked with a calendar icon (📅) in the platform update automatically every year if live dates are selected. This means the date range will shift to the next period at the start of each new calendar or fiscal year. These are ideal for annual report templates you want to reuse year over year without having to edit the columns.

Most Common

These are the date ranges used most frequently across reports, dashboards, and templates. Many of these also appear in the Calendar and Fiscal sections below, where they are described in full detail.

Tip: "Year to Last Month" is one of the most commonly used date ranges for Year-to-Date reporting. It will show January through your book month, automatically advancing each month as your book month updates. This is typically preferred over "Current Year" for ongoing monthly reports because it only shows months with actuals. Custom

Allows you to select a custom date or date range manually.

Current Month

The current month. This will be the month following your company's set Book Month.

Last Month

The previous month. This will be the month based on your company's set Book Month.

Last 3 Months

The previous 3 months.

Last 6 Months

The previous 6 months.

Last 12 Months

The previous 12 months.

Year to Last Month

January through the previous month.

January through the previous month from 2 years ago.

Current Quarter

The current calendar quarter, based on the book month (January–March, April–June, July–September, October–December).

Quarter to Last Month

The calendar quarter through the previous month.

Final Calendar Quarter

The final quarter of the calendar year (October–December).

Last Quarter

The previous full calendar quarter, based on the book month.

Last Quarter - 1

The previous quarter minus 1 quarter, based on the book month (one quarter period only).

Last Quarter - 2

The previous quarter minus 2 quarters, based on the book month (one quarter period only).

Last Quarter - 3

The previous quarter minus 3 quarters, based on the book month (one quarter period only).

Last Quarter - 4

The previous quarter minus 4 quarters, based on the book month (one quarter period only).

Last 4 Quarters

The previous 4 calendar quarters, based on the book month.

Last 8 Quarters

The previous 8 calendar quarters, based on the book month.

Final Calendar Month

The final month of the calendar year (December).

Fiscal

Fiscal date ranges are based on the fiscal year set within your bookkeeping software. If your fiscal year starts in January, these will match the Calendar date ranges above. To check or update your fiscal year, refer to your bookkeeping software settings.

For CSV uploads or consolidations, your fiscal year start month can be set directly within the Reach Reporting workspace settings.

These are additional date ranges available in Reach that are less commonly used but serve specific use cases, particularly when you want to include the current month in a range or adjust for a specific reporting period.

The beginning of the calendar year through the current month, based on the book month (includes the current month).

Year to Current Month (1 yr ago)

The beginning of the calendar year through the equivalent current month of last year.

Year to Current Month (2 yrs ago)

The beginning of the calendar year through the equivalent current month from 2 years ago.

Fiscal Year to Current Month

The beginning of the fiscal year through the current month, based on the book month (includes the current month).

Fiscal Year to Current Month (1 yr ago)

The beginning of the fiscal year through the equivalent current month of last year.

Fiscal Year to Current Month (2 yrs ago)

The beginning of the fiscal year through the equivalent current month from 2 years ago.

Current Month + Last 2

The current month plus the previous 2 months (3 months total).

Current Month + Last 5

The current month plus the previous 5 months (6 months total).

Current Month + Last 11

The current month plus the previous 11 months (12 months total).

Fiscal Year to Last Month - 1 Mo

The beginning of your fiscal year through the book month minus 1 month.

Fiscal Year to Last Month - 2 Mo

The beginning of your fiscal year through the book month minus 2 months.

Fiscal Year to Last Month - 3 Mo

The beginning of your fiscal year through the book month minus 3 months.

Future Calendar date ranges are used for forward-looking reports, forecasts, and budget presentations. These are especially useful when paired with budget or forecast data.
